The 4-2-2 wheeled Caledonian Single locomotive No. 14010 was built in 186 by Neilson & Co. Hyde Park Works for the Caledonian Railway and was originally numbered 123. In 1888 this well known locomotive took part in the "railway races" and in the 1920's No. 123 was used to pull the Director's Saloon but in 1930it was returned to ordinary service and operated until 1935. By that time the locomotive was painted in L.M.S. colours and carried the number 14010.
After being withdrawn from service the locomotive was repainted in its original Caledonian livery and numbered once more 123 and is now housed at the Glasgow Museum of Transport.
The loco was cleaned and lubricated and test run. It is in in excellent condition and runs very smoothly and quietly alon the track.
