fourth in the sries of BRM limited edition wagons is this 7 plank Gloucester Gaslight Company wagon which was used to take coal from the collieries to the gas works via the Midland Railway line and later LMS up until WW2. Contracts specified that a reduction in price of 2 shillings per ton would be granted if the gas company sent their own wagons and as the gas works were located not far from the Glocester Railway Carraige and Wagon Co. it was natural that the Gloucester Gaslight Co. should have patronised them for their wagons.
Wagon No. 51 is one of ten standard R.C.H. pattern side end door vehicles from a 1923 order with brakes on both sides and commode handles on the end door. It should be noted that no instructions were painted on the wagon directing it to a particular colliery for loading. the wagon No. is also out of sequence a further orderdelievered during the following year carried lower numbers presumably replacing those which had been on hire and returned.
